The Mets were shellacked 13-to-1 by the Nationals this afternoon in Washington, D.C. Carlos Torres allowed eight runs on nine hits in three innings of work. The last four runs he allowed came on a grand slam by Wilson Ramos.
The Mets' bullpen wasn't much better, as Gonzalez Germen gave up two runs in two innings and David Aardsma gave up three runs in one. With the game completely lopsided, Josh Edgin threw a scoreless seventh. Bobby Parnell—who did not pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning of a tie game on Friday night—allowed a run in the eighth.
Marlon Byrd plated the Mets' only run of the game with a single in the fourth inning. It's hard to remember what that play even looked like.
