The 51s put up 4 in the sixth and 3 in the 7th to support Giancarlo Alvarado--who allowed just one run over six innings--as Vegas beat Reno, 7-2.
- LF Mike Baxter: 0-5
- SS Ruben Tejada: 1-3, 2 R, BB; Omar Quintanilla has not exactly been lighting it up for the Mets--hitting just .227/.316/.325. We could see Tejada back with the big league team soon.
- 1B Zach Lutz: 0-2, 2 RBI, BB
- 2B Jordany Valdespin: 1-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, HR (2), BB; He's been mashing in the five games since his demotion, slugging .773.
- CF Matt den Dekker: 2-4, 2B, RBI, K; A defensive outfield featuring both Juan Lagares and den Dekker would be pretty special.
- RHP Giancarlo Alvarado: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
- LHP Jack Leathersich: 1.2 IP, H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K

READING 5, BINGHAMTON 4 (Box)/6, completed early due to rain
The B-Mets lost a rain shortened affair Monday night.
- 2B Daniel Muno: 2-4, R; It's hard not to be enthused by Muno's 16+% walk-rate this season. After a slow start, Muno has rebounded to raise his line to .249/.382/.386.
- LF Darrell Cecilliani: 3-3, 2B; Cecilliani has to be in the running for Eastern League player of the month. He's now hit .424/.472/.682 in July.
- 3B Josh Rodriguez: 0-2, R, BB, K
- DH Allan Dykstra: 2-3, R, 3 RBI, HR (18); Not much to say about Dykstra that hasn't already been said. I would be curious as to what his Rule 5 status is.
- RF Cesar Puello: 1-3, R, RBI; Have to imagine a suspension is imminent with Braun getting tagged yesterday. I would much rather he get the suspension out of the way this season than have it roll into next year.
- CF Alonzo Harris: 0-3, 2 K
- RHP Logan Verrett: 6 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, BB, 5 K, 3 HR; Verrett continues to display excellent strikeout to walk numbers but he also continues to allow home runs at an alarming rate--he's now allowed 18 in 116.1 innings. One has to believe that his futures lies in the bullpen where his stuff should play up.

It took 13 innings but Savannah finally won after Eudy Pina mercifully tripled in the go-ahead run.
- 2B Jorge Rivero: 2-6, R ; Rivero seems to have been held back in extended before playing 15 games with Brooklyn and then was bumped to Savannah.

- LF Stefan Sabol: 1-5, 2B, BB, K
- 1B Cole Frenzel: 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI
- CF Brandon Nimmo: 1-4, BB, 3 K; I really hope his hand is bothering him because I need an excuse for his performance the past couple months. If he's doing this and he's healthy, it's just...not good.
- DH Eudy Pina: 1-5, R, 3B, RBI, BB, 2 K
- IF Phillip Evans: DNP; Evans is hurt according to Toby Hyde. Hasn't played since last Monday.
- RHP Jake Kuebler: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
Short-A - Brooklyn Cyclones(15-19)
BATAVIA 2, BROOKLYN 0 (Box)
Two hits was all the Cyclones could muster in this one as they were downed 2-0.

- CF Champ Stuart: 1-4, R, BB; High strikeout, high walk guy so far. REALLY high on both--he came into tonight sports a 24.3% walk rate and a 30% strikeout rate in 70 plate appearances.
- RF Victor Cruzado: 0-3, RBI, BB
- DH Jeff Diehl: 0-4, K
- SS Amed Rosario: 2-4, R, RBI, HR (2); We could look at the .221/.265/.326 line and be disappointed, or we can remember he is 17 years-old and has more home runs than Brandon Nimmo this season.
- OF Bradley Marquez: DNP
- RHP Andres Perez: 3.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Rk - GCL Mets (6-20)_______________________________
GCL CARDINALS 9, GCL METS 8 (Box)/14
- 1B Dominic Smith: 2-3, R, 2B, 2 BB; triple slashing .243/.337/.392 so far. Given the front office believes the ability to draw a walk is an innate ability that is difficult to teach, you gotta like seeing 12 walks already in 89 plate appearances.
- RF Wuilmer Becerra: 2-5, R, RBI, 2 BB, 2 K; Given the ascension of Noah Syndergaard this season, it goes without saying the Mets got a solid haul in the Dickey trade. But what I like best is that it could be the trade that keeps on giving, with d'Arnaud potentially arriving in a month or so, Syndergaard maybe arriving late next year, and Becerra perhaps matriculating up the system the next few years.
- CF Ivan Wilson: 1-6, RBI, BB, 3 K
- PR Vicente Lupo: 0-0
- REHAB ALERT LF Cory Vaughn: 1-5, 2B, BB, 2 K
- 2B Branden Kaupe: 1-4, 2 R, RBI, 2 BB, K; Kaupe is displaying an excellent ability to draw a walk but has yet to register an extra-base hit. And at 5'7" it's fair to wonder how much power he will ever generate.
- RHP Yoryi Nuez: 3 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 0 K

It's real tempting to go with Brandon Nimmo but instead I'll go with the entire Brooklyn Cyclones lineup. Woof. Gavin Cecchini can't come back soon enough--at least it will give us something to get excited about
