David Wright has been scratched from today's game with an apparent left shoulder injury. He will return to New York for an MRI.

The Mets injury-plagued season potentially took an even more unfortunate turn today, with David Wright being scratched from today's lineup with an apparent left shoulder injury.  It has been reported that he will return to New York to undergo an MRI on the shoulder.  Overall, David is in the middle of a somewhat down year by his usually excellent standards, to the tune of a .277 average and a .729 OPS.  Recently however, Wright had been on a tear, batting .417 with 5 doubles in his previous 7 games, so the injury news comes as somewhat of a surprise, and a disappointing development as Wright appeared to be hitting like his old self after a slow start to the season.  The timing of the injury is especially unfortunate given the recent demotion of Wilmer Flores, who could have filled in at 3rd base and received some reps at the major league level if Wright is forced to miss significant time.  For now, it appears that yet again Mets fans will have to wait with bated breath in hopes that the MRI doesn't show any structural damage.
