The 30-year-old joins a beleaguered group of relief pitchers as the Mets continue a five-game series with the Phillies.

The Mets will promote left-handed pitcher Dana Eveland before Sunday's game with the Phillies. Eveland has made twelve appearances, eight of which were starts, for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. The team has an open spot on its 40-man roster for Eveland, but it has not yet indicated the corresponding move to clear a spot on its active roster.

Eveland has a 3.91 ERA and 3.50 FIP this year with Vegas with 11.35 strikeouts, 2.35 walks, and 0.98 home runs allowed per nine innings. He last pitched in the big leagues with the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. In 392.2 career innings in the majors, Eveland has a 5.46 ERA and 4.42 FIP.

As far as the corresponding move goes, the Mets have a few options. Buddy Carlyle, who was promoted for this afternoon's game and pitched well in it, could be sent back to Vegas. If the Mets want to carry eight relief pitchers, at least temporarily, they could send down a bench bat. Eric Campbell, Wilmer Flores, and Matt den Dekker have rarely played over the past couple of weeks.
