The Mets' bats were rocked to sleep by Henderson Alvarez, while Giancarlo Stanton and Casey McGehee accounted for all the scoring against Bartolo Colon as the Amazins drop their second straight game in Miami.
The Marlins drew first blood, scoring twice in the bottom of the first against Bartolo Colon via RBI hits from Giancarlo Stanton and Casey McGehee, then scored once more one another run-scoring single from McGehee in the fifth. That would prove more than enough, as the Mets lineup scattered six hits against Miami starter Henderson Alvarez but mounted very few threats, lulled to sleep by Alvarez's overpowering competence, bad BABIP luck, and the general torpor that descends upon them every time they play in Miami. At least game time was only two hours and eight minutes, which left us a good portion of our evenings to contemplate how much we all can't stand the Marlins.
Full recap to come.
