The Mets and Marlins went to extra innings yet again this afternoon, but the Mets came out on top thanks to a walk-off single by Travis d'Arnaud in the twelfth inning. That the Mets were able to get to the twelfth was a credit to their pitching staff.

Dillon Gee threw seven-and-one-third innings of scoreless ball and struck out eight in the process. He gave up six hits and two walks but continued his excellent performance since the end of May. Pedro Feliciano, Scott Atchison, LaTroy Hawkins, Gonzalez Germen, and Vic Black combined for four-and-two-thirds scoreless innings to keep the Mets alive.

The Mets' offense was barely visible for most of the game, but they loaded the bases with nobody out in the twelfth. Zach Lutz and Andrew Brown each hit a ground ball on which the runner on third was forced out at home plate. But d'Arnaud got them off the hook with his single and earned his first pie of his young career.
