Kris Medlen was stellar and received some help from Andrelton Simmons and the returning Evan Gattis, helping the Braves to a 3-1 win over the Mets.

Both Medlen and Mets starter Carlos Torres were on their game as they each put up a zero over five innings. Medlen retired 11 straight hitters at one point and struck out nine in seven innings. Torres went six scoreless and struck out six in seven innings.

With one out in the sixth, Eric Young hit what looked to be a catchable fly ball to left that chased Evan Gattis to the wall, but Gattis flat out missed it and Young wound up with a triple. Shortly thereafter, Daniel Murphy drove him in with a double to right.

"I felt fixed before leaving...It’s good to go there and really kind of put it in action... definitely good to have a good night here – first one especially." - Evan Gattis on his trip to Gwinnett

Come the bottom of the seventh, Evan Gattis already had a pair of singles, but with one out, El Oso Blanco mauled a high fastball from Torres for a game-tying homer (video). Following a walk to Dan Uggla, Andrelton Simmons untied the game with a home run of his own, his 13th of the year (video).

Craig Kimbrel secured the win with two strikeouts in the ninth, earning his 44th save of the year.

B.J. Upton had two more hits, and for the first time all year is hitting .200.
