Freddie Freeman drove in five runs and Atlanta pounded 17 hits against Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Mets in a 13-5 win.

All five of Freddie's RBI came in the first two innings: a two-run double in the first inning and then a mammoth three-run homer in the second; Jordan Schafer also drove in a run that inning for a 6-1 lead. Schafer had four hits and three steals in the game, but left in the seventh with a lower back strain; he is day-to-day.

New York scored two off Paul Maholm in the fourth to cut the lead to three, but Andrelton Simmons doubled home two runs in the fifth. Brian McCann and B.J. Upton contributed run-scoring hits in the sixth for two more runs. A pair of Mets runs crossed the plate with one out in the seventh against Scott Downs; Atlanta returned the favor with three in the eighth with Simmons and Joey Terdoslavich driving them in.

Maholm labored through five innings, throwing exactly 100 pitches and allowing three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out four. Matsuzaka allowed six runs in three innings.

In addition to Freeman's five RBI, Simmons contributed three and every starting position player had at least one hit and scored at least one run; only Dan Uggla did not record multiple hits. This is the ninth time this year Atlanta scored at least 10 runs in a game, and the 13 runs equals a season high (July 6 @ Philadelphia).
