The Mets completed a delayed sweep of the Minnesota Twins yesterday, as Dillon Gee went deep into the game and looked very good for New York. Seven of the nine Mets starters managed to get multiple hits in the game, and Juan Lagares continued to flash the leather out in center field. The box score (which includes another Travis d'Arnaud walk) can be found here.

John Buck is back with the team, which means the Mets needed to make a decision regarding their catching situation. They made the right one as far as I'm concerned, leaving Travis d'Arnaud with the big league club and sending Anthony Recker down to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Howard Megdal looked at some positive signs from this past weekend for the future of the Mets and, unsurprisingly, it began with starting pitching.

Juan Lagares making a ridiculous catch wasn't the only gif we had yesterday, you can vote for your favorite gif of last week here.

We've made it all the way to #32 on our list of all-time Mets, with Craig Swan becoming the most recent entry.

Steve took a look at the state of the Mets at shortstop. Personally, I'd have liked to have seen us put a claim on Elvis Andrus just to see what the Rangers would do.

Looking ahead to 2014, Chris wrote about whether or not Marlon Byrd would be a fit.

Around Baseball

The Phillies took advantage of the Braves off day to gain some ground in the tight race fro the NL East, they now sit just 21 games out of first. Anyone else not buying that the Phillies are dead?

The Nationals didn't play quite as well as the Phillies, getting trounced 11-1 by the Cubs. That loss combined with the Mets win leaves NY just 2.5 games out of second (in an admittedly terrible division).

The Marlins managed another win yesterday, hurting their chances of overtaking the Astros for the worst record in baseball.

Tampa managed a 4-3 win over the Orioles yesterday, the race in the AL East is going to be fascinating to watch.

I love when position players come in to pitch, even more so when they get results.

Phil Hughes has talked about his willingness to try pitching in relief full time next season, and BtB took a look at how that transition tends to go.

Finally for today, Rawlings has taken a step in the right direction in order to prevent the Gold Glove voting from continuing to see laughable results. There will still be clowns that believe Derek Jeter is the best fielding shortstop in the AL, but giving voters data that suggests otherwise with their ballot can't hurt.
