It was a rough day for the Mets, as it will be anytime they don't manage to score a run on Harvey day. A high pitch count and a rough 6th inning meant the ace had a shorter outing than looks as usual, and even thought the Mets managed twice the baserunners the Marlins did, they'd lose the game 3-0. Here's your box score, and choose your recap from the following: Amazin' Avenue, Fear and Faith, Rising Apple, Fish Stripes, EPSN, MLB.Com, Newsday

Up next for the Mets will be a return to Flushing to face the Royals. The Royals are red hot at the moment, having won nine in a row, and they managed to avoid all of Zack Wheeler, Jenrry Mejia, and Matt Harvey this weekend. The weekend forecast looks mostly good, but there is a chance of some weather disturbing Saturday's game.

2013 has been a great year to be a Matt Harvey fan, and BtB took a look at just how special it's really been. As always with BtB, it's worth a read.

It looks as if the Biogenesis thing is going to drag into the weekend without any penalties being announced, and that will mean a few less games of his suspension that Cesar Puello can serve this year. It would be nice to just have it done with so we could get back to business as usual.

Yesterday at AA

Episode 29 of Amazin' Avenue Audio went live yesterday, and if you have the time, you should give it a listen.

August 1st once saw the Mets TRAID one of their most popular players to a team in Canada, and they got significantly less in return than they did for R.A. Dickey.

This wasn't actually from yesterday, but you can check up on what happened around the minors over the past 24 hours with our farm report.

Around Baseball

The Braves managed an impressive 11-2 victory to stretch their lead in the division to 11.5 games.

The Phillies had a lol-worthy Jonathan Papelbon fueled loss, but the recap started out with two paragraphs of classic Simpsons. Everybody wins!

The most exciting game of the day was probably the thrilling Red Sox win over the Mariners. The Mariners entered the ninth with a 99.4% chance to win...and didn't. This game was even more fun for Mets fans based on who was on the mound for the end of the amazing comeback.

It's kind of funny when players do confusing things in the field, but sometimes they end up working. This was the case with Hanley Ramirez last night.
