The Mets beat the Marlins in ten innings this evening in Miami, as hard as that may be to believe. Zack Wheeler made his best start in the big leagues; he allowed just two runs in seven innings with five strikeouts and three walks. That might not sound great, but he threw just 87 pitches and held a no-hitter as late as the seventh inning.

Juan Lagares got the Mets on the board first with a two-run triple in the fourth inning. Wheeler allowed both of his runs after his no-hit bid was broken up in the seventh. The game remained tied until the top of the tenth inning, but John Buck hit a bases-loaded single to score two runs. With a two-run lead, Bobby Parnell allowed just a walk in a scoreless bottom half of the inning.

Game Thread Roll Call

The roll call tool has confirmed what I earlier assumed to be true.

Nice job by MetsFan4Decades; her effort in the game thread embiggens us all.
