Two pitchers top the list, but there are also plenty of bats in the middle.
After the Mets posted a positive run differential in 2014 for the first time in the Sandy Alderson era, Baseball America expects the Mets to finally finish above .500 in 2015. The publication also announced its list of the top 10 Mets prospects heading into the campaign.
2. Steve Matz
6. Amed Rosario
7. Michael Conforto
9. Marcus Molina
10. Gavin Cecchini
The list is pretty similar to the one put out by Minor League Ball yesterday, with some notable exceptions. First, Steven Matz is known to Baseball America as "Steve." Second, Nimmo is ahead of Herrera on this list, while John Sickels wrote that he was in the minority of ranking the second baseman higher.
Sickels is also higher on Montero, who didn't totally impress in 2014. Baseball America prefers Rosario in the sixth spot after he hit .289/.337/.380 as a 19-year-old in the New York-Penn League.
Baseball America is also still willing to call Cecchini a top-10 prospect even after an uninspiring half-season at High-A St. Lucie. Sickels ranks Cecchini 11th and moves young third baseman Jhoan Urena into the top 10.
The important thing is that both publications were very high on the Mets' farm system and expect the club to compete for the postseason in 2015 and beyond. The high number of bats in the middle of this could certainly boost the Mets' offense if they mature properly.
