AAA -Las Vegas 51s (56-48)__________________________________
SACRAMENTO 9, LAS VEGAS 3 (Box)
Just before going to sleep last night, I glanced at the box score and saw that the 51s had taken a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and made the fallacious assumption that all would be okay at Cashman Field. The RiverCats then proceeded to outscore the 51s 9-1 from the fourth inning on, scoring six of their nine runs against the bullpen tandem of Robert Carson and John Church. Jordany Valdespin went 4-for-4 last night, driving in all three Las Vegas runs in the process and continuing his torrid hitting since his demotion. Oakland prospect Michael Choice hit an eighth inning grand slam to make the game 8-2 and all but ensure that Chris Schwinden would take the loss last night despite pitching four mediocre-to-decent innings.
- SS Ruben Tejada: 0-2, R, K
- DH Wilmer Flores: 1-4, R, 2 K
- 2B Jordany Valdespin: 4-4, 2B, 3 RBI
- CF Matt den Dekker: 1-3, K
- RHP Chris Schwinden: 4 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, HR, WP
- LHP Jack Leathersich: IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
- LHP Robert Carson: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, HR; I just do not get it, someone who throws as hard as Carson does should really have the stuff (and the stuff is there) play up out of the bullpen.
AA -Binghamton Mets (65-40)_____________________________________
GAME ONE
TRENTON 4, BINGHAMTON 1 (Box)
GAME TWO (Makeup of 6/27 postponement)
TRENTON 1, BINGHAMTON 4 (Box)
The B-Mets and Trenton Thunder split a doubleheader yesterday, with each game ending in a score of four runs to one. The opener saw Erik Goeddel sunk by a poor first inning in which he allowed three runs, and an impotent B-Mets offense unable to support him to the tune of four hits and striking out nine times in the shortened game. In the second game, it looked like another Binghamton loss was on the horizon as they trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth until Richard Lucas launched a grand slam and Jeff Walters subsequently quelled any Thunder comeback with his 29th save of the year.

Hi-A -St. Lucie Mets (18-12 / 56-42)________________________________________
GAME ONE
ST. LUCIE 5, LAKELAND 1 (Box)
GAME TWO
ST. LUCIE 2, LAKELAND 0 (Box) F/9
The S-Mets were able to sweep a doubleheader last night at Joker Marchant Stadium, outscoring the Flying Tigers 7-1 over sixteen innings of baseball. Game one went as such: Dustin Lawley singled home T.J. Rivera in the top of the first, Matt Bowman made the scant lead last for six innings, and then St. Lucie broke it open with four runs in the top of the seventh to cruise to a 5-1 victory. The nightcap was a pitcher's duel between Hansel Robles and Kevin Eichhorn, the latter of whom no-hit St. Lucie for five innings. Scoreless through eight full innings, the Mets finally ended the deadlock in extras with two runs in the ninth (why no, that's not a typo, why do you ask?) courtesy of RBI singles from Robbie Shields and Cory Vaughn. Hamilton Bennett pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn the win.
- CF Kyle Johnson: 0-4, R, RBI, K // 0-4
- 2B T.J. Rivera: 1-2, 2B, 2 R, BB // 0-1

Lo-A -Savannah Sand Gnats(14-15 / 57-41)__________________________________
AUGUSTA 4, SAVANNAH 9 (Box)
Gabriel Ynoa didn't have his best stuff last night at Grayson Park, but thankfully his GreenJacket counterpart Yoan Gregorio didn't have much stuff at all, as the Sand Gnats tagged him for nine runs in 2+ innings. The Sand Gnats scored two in the bottom of the first, four in the second, and three in the third to propel to a 9-2 lead that would never come close to being relinquished, mercifully. Tyler Vanderheiden and Wanel Mesa pitched the final four innings in scoreless relief, enabling Mesa to earn his first save and Ynoa his 10th win.
- 2B-LF Jorge Rivero: 2-5, 2B, 2 R, K
- CF Brandon Nimmo: 1-5, RBI, 3 K (Post All-Star Break: .200/.306/.238, 3 XBH, 14 BB, 47 K in 105 PA; I guess the concerns about the bat speed may have credence)

- DH Stefan Sabol: 2-3, 2B, R, 2 RBI, BB, K
- RF Eudy Pina: 1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB

Short-A - Brooklyn Cyclones (17-20)
BROOKLYN 2, STATEN ISLAND 0 (Box)
Robert Gsellman pitched seven outstanding innings, and 2013 draftee Ricky Knapp pitched the final two in relief to earn his first professional save in Staten Island last night. Edward Rohan hit his first home run of the season in the top of the third to give the Cyclones the lead for good, and Brooklyn padded the lead with an unearned run in the fifth.
