After Jenrry Mejia made a sterling season debut on Friday afternoon against the Nationals, the Mets decided to keep him around as part of a six-man starting rotation. Although the team was able to carry Mejia as an extra player for the doubleheader, it had to make a move afterwards to clear a spot. With that, Kirk Nieuwenhuis is heading back to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Juan Lagares has played an excellent center field in the big leagues this year, and with his bat heating up a bit lately, he'll take over center field duties on an everyday basis. Nieuwenhuis has hit just .189/.278/.337 in 108 plate appearances with the Mets, while Lagares's slash line is up to .268/.299/.405.

For the first time in a long time, the Mets will not be carrying six outfielders on their roster. They will, of course, carry thirteen pitchers and have a short bench, but there are worse things than a six-man rotation.

While Nieuwenhuis's play in the field might have been forgettable in his latest big league stint, his videobombing performance was outstanding. Here it is again.
