Your Monday morning dose of New York Mets and Major League Baseball news, notes, and links.

Meet the Mets

In 2015, the Mets will be giving away garden gnomes in the likeness of Jacob deGrom. Most gnomes are short and stout, so it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Mets 360 has a few small free agent signings for the team to consider.

Mike Vaccaro at the Post reminds us that nowadays it's kind of silly to build asymmetrical ballparks.

Around the Majors

Jon Heyman said on Sunday that the Red Sox are interested in signing not only Pablo Sandoval, but their old prospect Hanley Ramirez as well.

Later last night, Ken Rosenthal told us that Ramirez is headed to Boston today to sign a five-year, $90 million deal.

Rosenthal also reported yesterday that the Rangers are willing to deal any of their middle infield prospects for the right price. The Mets, of course, are craving a shortstop.

The Athletics have acquired Ike Davis in a trade with the Pirates. In order to make room for him on its roster, Oakland designated Andrew Brown, another former Met, for assignment.

Torii Hunter could be heading back to Minnesota for a Twins team in need of a veteran outfielder.

The 2015 Hall of Fame ballot will be unveiled today, which means we'll once again measure up the chances that Mike Piazza has to reach baseball immortality.

Yesterday at Amazin' Avenue

Nathan Gismot took a look back at the Dana Eveland and his surprisingly pleasant 2014 campaign.

On this date in 2005, the Mets acquired Carlos Delgado from the Marlins.
