After being outrighted by the Mets, Josh Satin has signed a minor league deal with the Reds.
Utility infielder Josh Satin, who was removed from the Mets' 40-man roster at the end of October, has inked a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds.
Satin has spent his entire career in the Mets organization. He was drafted out of the University of California in the 6th round of the 2008 draft. He finally made his major league debut in 2011, but continued to be bounced around in the Mets' organization. Finally in 2013 he carved out a niche at the major league level as a right-handed hitter who could hit righties effectively. Over the course of 190 at-bats he hit .279/.376/.405.
Heading into 2014, it appeared Satin had nailed down a spot on the roster as the right-handed half of a first base platoon. However, he hit just .086/.256/.143 in 35 at-bats and lost his roster spot to Eric Campbell. Satin was sent back to the Las Vegas 51s where he remained until being recalled for a September call up. His season ended with a fracture in his hand.
In addition to Satin, Miguel Socolovich, Ryan Reid, and Allan Dykstra also have left the Mets organization for minor league deals elsewhere.
