Mets fans, rejoice and be glad: Adam LaRoche has left the NL East.
According to multiple reports, Adam LaRoche has signed a two-year, $25 million deal with the Chicago White Sox. The move obviously sends LaRoche to the Amercian League, thereby ending his reign of terror over the Mets.
Lest anyone forget, LaRoche was a one-man wrecking crew against Mets pitching in 2014, hitting .321/.471/.755 in 68 plate appearances. As such, LaRoche was a significant contributing factor to the Mets' terrible 4-15 record versus the Nationals in 2014. His move to the American League is a positive development for a 2015 Mets team with dreams of contending for a playoff spot.
LaRoche began his career in 2004 with the Braves, then bounced to the Pirates, the Red Sox, back to the Braves, and then out to Arizona before spending the past four seasons in Washington.
The Marlins, among other teams, were rumored to have been suitors for LaRoche's services in 2015 and beyond. Fortunately for Mets fans, that rumor proved false. Adam LaRoche will terrorize the Mets no more.
