The Mets scored in double digits for the second game in a row, belting four home runs against Scott Kazmir and the A's bullpen to win the first of two against Oakland.
The A's struck first on a Yoenis Cespedes RBI double in the top of the first, but it was all Mets from the point on. The home team responded against Scott Kazmir in the bottom of the second with back-to-back homers: a two-run shot to right by Curtis Granderson, followed by a solo shot to left from Chris Young. They tacked on with four more in the third, the biggest blow a long three-run homer off the bat of the recently reinstated Travis d'Arnaud. Another solo homer by Chris Young in the fifth and a two more runs in the sixth officially turned the game into a laugher. Bartolo Colon pitched eight fantastic innings and finished with a flourish, fanning five of the last seven batters he faced.
