Final Score: Mets 4, Marlins 0—deGrom leads deWay, Duda deMolishes a pitch

Jacob deGrom and the Mets' bullpen pitched well, and the team got a few big hits, to boot.

Jacob deGrom and the Mets beat the Marlins pretty easily this afternoon. Neither team scored through the first three innings of the game, but the Mets got on the board first with a rib-eye steak single by Chris Young in the fourth. That run turned out to be really all the Mets needed on the afternoon, as deGrom wound up throwing seven shutout innings before handing the game over to Jeurys Familia, who threw a perfect eighth, and Jenrry Mejia, who walked one batter but threw a pretty stress-free scoreless ninth.

Unlike the team’s victory on Thursday night, however, the Mets scored more than one run. David Wright, who went 3-for-4 and looks like his old self at the moment, plated the second run of the game with a single in the sixth. And after Wright doubled in the ninth, Lucas Duda hit a no-doubt home run to tack on the third and fourth runs of the afternoon.

With that, the Mets have a chance to take three of four from Miami tomorrow afternoon.
