The Miami Marlins got six solid innings from debuting starter Andrew Heaney. He allowed just four hits, but one was a home run by David Wright, who put the New York Mets up 1-0.

The Miami Marlins got to see the Major League debut of top prospect Andrew Heaney, and he did not disappoint the Fish against the New York Mets. Heaney put up six solid innings for the Marlins, giving up just one run on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk. The sole blemish for Heaney was an unfortunate home run sent out by David Wright in the first inning, and so far in tonight's contest, that is the only run scored.

Heaney ran into some rough patches early in the game, but was bailed out by his defense; Miami picked up two double plays in support of him. But then he settled down and at some point retired eight batters in a row. Heaney exited with just three strikeouts, but he was getting ahead of batters fairly consistently and picking up two-strike counts on a majority of hitters. He got a decent number of swings and misses as well and did so with both the fastball and, surprisingly, the changeup, which was featured more often against the righty-heavy Mets lineup.

Bryan Morris entered the game in Heaney's stead and was able to secure the 1-0 game, but the Fish still trail and need some runs against Zack Wheeler.
