Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (35–27)______________________________________

FRESNO 7, LAS VEGAS 2 (Box)

Joel Carreno came out and took one on the chin on Saturday. It got away from the 51s quickly, as Fresno plated four in the top of the first, capped off by a three-run homer by Adam Duvall. Allan Dykstra struck back in the bottom of the inning, taking one deep to left for a solo shot of his own. But the Grizzlies continued to put it to Carreno, scoring one run each in the second and third innings, and the 51s' fates were sealed. Fresno's Mitch Lively held Las Vegas's bats in check for six solid innings, striking out eight along the way. With the loss, Carreno's record dropped to one and four. Saturday's defeat means that Las Vegas will be fighting today to avoid a four-game sweep. The Grizzlies will send Edwin Escobar (3–5, 4.82) to the mound to face the 51s' Logan Verrett (4–2, 4.97). Game time is at 3:05 ET.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (31–29)______________________________________

NEW BRITAIN 6, BINGHAMTON 4 (Box)

Greg Peavey started against the New Britain Rock Cats and was knocked around for nine hits and four runs in his four-and-two-third innings of work. But thanks to a B-Mets' three-run fourth, the game was knotted at four to four when Peavey was yanked in favor of Jack Leathersich. However, he could not hold the tie, giving up two runs of his own. Binghamton's offense struck eight hits on Saturday, including Jayce Boyd, who hit his third dinger of the season. But it was not enough as the B-Mets fell by a score of six to four. Leathersich took the loss and fell to one and two. Binghamton will attempt  to avoid the sweep today, down two games to none. Taylor Rogers (5–4, 4.88) will toe the rubber for New Britain and will take on Tyler Pill (3–5, 4.91) for St. Lucie. Game time is 1:05 ET.

Advanced-A - St. Lucie Mets (35–27)______________________________________

ST. LUCIE 2, DUNEDIN 4 (Box)

The Mets struck out twelve times on Saturday on the way to splitting their four-game set with Dunedin. All of that swinging and missing did lead to five extra-base hits, but St. Lucie managed only two runs with their eight hits and three walks. Steven Matz started for the Mets and tossed six innings of four-run, eight-hit baseball, striking out five and walking two. Matz's record falls to three and four with the loss. The Mets begin a short two-game series at home against Palm Beach today at 4:00 ET and will send Michael Fulmer (2–5, 4.59) to the mound to match up against The Cardinals' Thomas Lee (4–3, 2.95).

Low-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (40–19)______________________________________

SAVANNAH 4, CHARLESTON 0 (Box)

Without the efforts of the Sand Gnats on Saturday, the Mets' farm would have gone winless for the day, as both Dominican Summer League teams lost as well. Savannah's pitching staff held Charleston scoreless and limited them to four hits on the day. John Gant started for the Sand Gnats, tossing seven innings of shutout baseball, striking out five and walking one. Savannah did most of their scoring in the fifth inning, plating three runs on singles by Colton Plaia and L.J. Mazzilli and a double by Jeff McNeil. Gant moved his record to six and two with the win. After losing their first contest with the RiverDogs, the Sand Gnats have one two in a row to go up two games to one in the series. Rookie Davis (2–5, 5.55) will take the mound for Charleston and Savannah will send Chris Flexen (2–5, 5.63) to the bump to try to make it three wins for the series. The game begins at 5:05 ET.

For those so inclined, box scores for the DSL Mets1 and DSL Mets2.

Star of the Night
John Gant had a commanding start for Savannah to keep the day from being a total wash for the farm. John Gant, for at least one day the heft of the whole New York Mets minor league system was dropped onto your shoulders, and you carried the weight. Huzzah!

Goat of the Night
Joel Carreno was torched for six runs on Saturday, including four in the first inning. On a day when the system as a whole didn't get it done, Carreno was the king of not getting it done.
