Meet the Mets
The Mets lost to the Giants last night despite holding a lead for the grand majority of the game. Jenrry Mejia officially blew it, though there were plenty of other mistakes and missed opportunities to go around. The team will try to avoid a sweep today, but David Wright is getting a scheduled day off.

Following the loss, the Mets demoted Travis d'Arnaud to Triple-A Las Vegas and recalled Taylor Teagarden to take his place on the roster. Here's hoping that gives d'Arnaud a chance to get back on track, as the Mets' current catching situation is still not good.

Brandon Nimmo gave the Mets a scare when he was hit by a pitch near his wrist the other night, but the x-rays came back negative. Considering a wrist injury torpedoed his production last year, that's very good news.
Unfortunately, it does not sound like rangy center fielder Juan Lagares will be back anytime soon.

The red-hot Cubs beat the Marlinsagain, the Braves fell to the lowly Diamondbacks, the Nationals went the way of the Mets and lost to the Padres by blowing a ninth-inning lead, and the Phillies continued their push for the top pick in the 2015 draft with a one-run loss of their own.

As expected, Kendrys Morales signed with a new team yesterday since it no longer cost a draft pick to sign him. That team was unexpectedly the Minnesota Twins.
The Astros came to terms with first overall pick Brady Aiken.
