The man Mets fans call Thor dropped his hammer on the Grizzlies, needing just 76 pitches (51 strikes) to throw six frames of two-run ball in his first Triple-A start. Noah Syndergaard probably could have forged deeper into the game, but with the bases loaded in the sixth, manager Wally Backman lifted him in favor of pinch hitter Bobby Abreu. The veteran doubled to clear the bags and that proved timely, as relievers Jeff Walters and Ryan Reid conspired to make the final score a lot closer than it should have been.

While the big league club managed to squeeze in a game between the raindrops last night, the B-Mets weren't as lucky. Binghamton will play two against the Akron RubberDucks later today. The aptly named Rainy Lara is scheduled to start the day's first game, while Tyler Pill takes the mound in the nightcap.

Native Savannahian John Gant turned in a Gant-tasticTM start for his hometown Sand Gnats last night, striking out seven and keeping all but a half-dozen BlueClaws off the base paths over the course of six quality innings. Jared King and Gavin Cecchini helped the local boy make good with big days at the plate. The former rapped out two triples and drove in four, while the latter topped his home run total from last year with a single swing in the bottom of the seventh.
