Mets make final roster decisions in preparation for Monday's Opening Day matchup with the Nationals.

In their final roster moves before Opening Day, the Mets have added outfielder Andrew Brown, infielder Omar Quintanilla, and reliever Gonzalez Germen to the 25-man squad.

Brown will provide outfield depth and some pop off of the bench. He hit 275/.278/.490 with two home runs and eleven RBIs in 54 spring plate appearances. He hit just .227 with a pedestrian .288 on-base percentage with the Mets in 2013, but he slugged .400 with seven home runs.

Quintanilla, a capable middle infielder with very little to offer offensively, will back up Ruben Tejada at shortstop and Daniel Murphy at second base. He hit a mind-bogglingly awful .158/.238/.184 in spring training action this year, but he will take a walk if it’s given to him. I didn’t think I’d ever say it, but his presence on the Opening Day squad makes me pine for the days of Justin Turner.

Germen struck out ten and walked six in 11⅓ innings this spring, but the Mets need bullpen arms and Germen has one. He walked 16 in 34⅓ innings with the Mets last year, but he also struck out 33 and was reasonably effective overall against both lefties and righties.
