Murphy becomes the latest arbitration-eligible Met signed to a deal for 2014.
On the final day of arbitration filings, the Mets are quickly dealing with all of their arbitration-eligible players.
Daniel Murphy and the Mets settled on a one-year deal worth $5.7 million. The contract also includes a $500,000 bonus for 600 plate appearances, a total Murphy reached each of the past two seasons. The salary is $600,000 more than Pace Law projected for Murphy, but right around the total MLBTradeRumors had for him.
The 28-year-old hit .286/.319/.415 (106 wRC+) with 3.0 fWAR for the Mets this season. After being the subject of numerous trade rumors the last two and a half months, Murphy will be the Mets' starting second baseman again in 2014.
Murphy is in his second year of arbitration eligibility, and 2015 will mark his final year of eligibility before he becomes a free agent.
