Meet the Mets

Go back into hibernation, Mets fans! The 2013 Winter Meetings are over, and, as Jorge Castillo suggests, Sandy Alderson should be pleased with himself for allocating money in good places.

Sandy Alderson continued to make strides in the Ike Davis trade market, as he met with the Brewers multiple times, and it seems the Mariners and Diamondbacks may now be involved.

Earlier today in his press conference, Terry Collins talked about how much he loved the Granderson signing, and also mentioned that Bobby Parnell would be reevaluated this week in New York.

MLB Trade Rumors summarized the results of the Winter Meetings for the Mets, and there are a lot of positives to take away from it.

Jay Jaffee of Sports Illustrated suggests that by picking up Bartolo Colon, the Mets made a big statement for 2014, and in the process got themselves a top-of-the-rotation starter.

Greg Prince wrote up a great ode to the Mets newest starting pitcher, and in the process managed to reminisce about his great career.

The man person/thing who threatened to attack Mets players and officials over twitter has plead not-guilty.

Lastly, over at Sports on Earth, Pat Jordan wrote up a must-read profile of Tom Seaver, his storied past, and his future in the wine business.

Around the Majors

The Phillies have signed starting pitcher Roberto Hernadez to a one-year deal. You may know Hernandez by his former name, FaustoCarmona. I'm sure there's a Ruben Amaro joke in there somewhere.

Rick Reilly suggests that if we're going to not let steroid-users in the Hall of Fame, then we shouldn't allow the men who coached them either.

The Yankees left the Winter Meetings without making a move, but Brian Cashman doesn't want people to believe he is done trying to fill the number of holes the Yankees still have.

The Yankees are reportedly going to keep Brett Gardner. Earlier today, it seemed as there was Brandon Phillips for Gardner deal in place, but that fizzled when Phillips asked for his contract to be restructured.

The Texas Rangers selected Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in the Rule 5 Draft today, and former multi-sport star Deion Sanders says Wilson should pursue baseball as well.

Two former members of the Yankees bullpen are headed to new places, as Boone Logan was signed by the Rockies, and Joba Chamberlain signed with the Tigers.

Yesterday at AA

Rob Castellano took a look at the Savannah Sand Gnats season.
