The Mets signed Bartolo Colon to a two-year, $20 million contract. Was it a good deal?
The Mets signed free agent righty Bartolo Colon to a two-year, $20 million deal today, fortifying their starting rotation for a season in which they'll be without young superstar hurler Matt Harvey.
Some people are understandably concerned about Colon's age (40), body type (prosperous), injury history (checkered), and suspension for testosterone use and think the Mets are out of their minds to commit multiple years and that kind of money. Others forgive the PED indiscretion and point to his last three seasons—including a tremendously successful 2013 with the A's—and think the contract is not only warranted but a steal for the Mets.
What about you? Did Sandy Alderson make a huge mistake or pull off a major coup?
