The former Baltimore Oriole is headed to the Nationals.
A short while ago, Ken Rosenthal reported that the Washington Nationals have signed outfielder Nate McLouth to a two-year, $10.75 million deal with a $6.5 million club option for 2016. McLouth becomes the newest piece added to the Nationals, in what seems like an aggressive attempt to put together a National League East winning team by general manager Mike Rizzo.
McLouth has been in the Majors since 2005, having played with the Pirates, Braves, and Orioles. The left-handed-batting McLouth has played nearly his entire career as a below average defensive left fielder, and last year posted a dramatic platoon split , hitting .209/.283/.357 against left-handed pitching and .272/.342/.411 line against right-handed pitching.
Some Mets fans were looking at McLouth as a potential platoon player for the Mets this season, or as a fallback if the Mets couldn't land a player like Curtis Granderson. James Kannengieser had listed him as a "free agent who could help the Mets" in 2014.
