Brewers general manager Doug Melvin spoke about what the Mets are offering.

At the conclusion of the General Managers' Meetings in Orlando, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin spoke to MLB.com about the possibility of a trade with the Mets.

Melvin suggested that the Mets were willing to offer one of Lucas Duda or Ike Davis to fill their hole at first base. From a Mets perspective this would certainly be a trade that makes sense, since it has been said that the Mets covet Brewers outfielder Norichika Aoki. It was also suggested that the Brewers may also consider giving up one of their outfield prospects.

Melvin stated, albeit indirectly, that he spoke to the Mets at the General Managers' meetings, further saying:

"First base is one of our needs, they have excess first basemen, so you can tie two and two together -- and come up with three."

Melvin further suggested that nothing is imminent with the Mets and that they had no talks during the season.

Both teams have also been linked to free agent Corey Hart, who may be able to fill a hole for both teams, should the Brewers not be able to make a deal, or to serve as a platoon player for the Mets.
