Aaron Harang vs. Johnny Cueto. I had to do a double-take. There's a lot of history and symmetry to this match-up of Opening Day starters Past and Present.
There's also some irony. Harang might actually witness another Reds' playoff clinch at Great American Ball Park - this time, as a Met. He's technically on his fourth organization of the season, though he's only logged playing time for the Mariners and Mets. If a clinch happenned tonight, it's likely to happen after game time. The Nationals and Cardinals get started at 8:05. If the Reds win and the Nats lose, the Reds secure a berth in the post-season.
The weirdness of the Nats playing the Cardinals means you should actually root for the Nationals to win. Since two Reds wins over the next six games means a playoff clinch anyway, the Nationals do the Reds more favors by helping them gain on the Cards.
It's hard to hope for Harang to get beat up, but it's not so hard to hope he gets Harang'd. If Cueto's comeback start was any indication, the conditions are right.
