Meet the Mets

Third place or bust! (unless it costs the team a top-ten pick) Still, it always feels good to sweep the Phillies in their own park and take the season series. But seriously, stop screwing up the offseason/2014 draft. Maybe shut down Zack Wheeler for the season and make sure Aaron Harang makes two more starts this year or something. In the end, you just can't help but revel in beating the tar out of Philly.

Yesterday's hero, Wilfredo Tovar, did not expect a call-up in 2013.

Since it's the last road trip of the year, that means it's rookie hazing time. This year's theme was "Fall Wedding" and definitely did not lack for attention to detail. For more photos, you can check out the @Mets twitter feed.

And here's Zack Wheeler singing Disney songs in a wedding dress, care of David Aardsma.

At MLB Trade Rumors, David Wright talks about his relationship with his agents.

Around the NL East

Ryne Sandburg officially had the interim tag removed from his title yesterday. Didn't exactly get to celebrate in style though. It hasn't been all bad for the Phils lately. For example, Cliff Lee has been pretty good at baseball.

Congrat...you know, I just can't do it. Anyway, I am obligated to inform you that the Atlanta Braves officially clinched the NL East yesterday. Oh excuse me, I meant the Altanta Braves.

Barves gonna barve.

The Nats split a doubleheader with the Fish, losing the first 4-2, before salvaging the night cap.

Around MLB

Here's all of Sunday's action in one handy dandy scoreboard. Of particular note: Despite more sewage issues, the Athletics clinched their second straight AL West title.

Grant Brisbee catches you up on the weekend's action and gives you a report on the recent rash of bee attacks all in one post.

Beyond the Box score considers Gerritt Cole's recent increase in strikeouts.

And Ted Berg has fully embraced his new listicle overlords. He could at least give us a sandwich listicle.
