Travis d'Arnaud left the Mets' game early this evening after he was hit in the right shoulder by a foul tip. Although he stayed in the game for a little while after he was hit, d'Arnaud gave way to Anthony Recker in the top of the fourth inning.

The fact that d'Arnaud didn't have to leave the game immediately is probably a good sign. Here's hoping Terry Collins and the training staff were just being cautious by replacing d'Arnaud because the Mets are playing a meaningless game tonight.

In 24 games in the big leagues, d'Arnaud has hit just .167/.233/.231, which translates to a .213 wOBA and 32 wRC+. But his .194 batting average on balls in play figures to increase with time, and he's been praised for his pitch framing abilities behind the plate.
