SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
GAME ONE: SAVANNAH 1, HAGERSTOWN 6
GAME TWO: SAVANNAH 6, HAGERSTOWN 2
GAME THREE: HAGERSTOWN 0, SAVANNAH 6
HAGERSTOWN 0, SAVANNAH 2 (Box)
Steven Matz capped a scoreless postseason with 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits, walking two and striking out nine. The Sand Gnats were able to make two hits stand, the latter of which was Stefan Sabol's double in the fourth, which plated the only two runs of the game. Sabol would be the last baserunner Savannah would have in the game as the final 14 Gnats were retired in order. Matz found himself in trouble in the third inning as the Suns led off with three singles, but damage was escaped as the last two were of the infield and bunt variety to load the bases with none out. However, the left-hander was able to strike out Shawn Pleffner and Wander Ramos swinging and induce a Mike McQuillan line out to Phillip Evans to escape the inning without allowing a run. The Gnats were able to load the bases themselves in the fourth courtesy of three walks, which paved the way for Sabol's two-run double. Paul Sewald relieved Matz with two outs in the fifth and pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Jeurys Familia then pitched a rehabtastic scoreless and hitless eighth with two strikeouts. Beck Wheeler was then able to work around a one-out double, getting Pedro Severino to pop-up to Phil Evans in foul territory to send Historic Grayson Stadium into a frenzy of celebration.
The Sand Gnats did not allow a run in 27 innings of playoff baseball at home this season, and allowed two runs in the final 27 innings of the SAL Championship Series.

Well Amazin' Avenue regulars, that concludes the Daily Farm Report feature for the 2013 season. It was a pleasure to be a weekend guy and since I really hate formatting for Stars of the Night, enjoy this revised SotN. Cheers, and congratulations to the 2013 South Atlantic League Champion Savannah Sand Gnats.
