Meet the Mets

Scott Kazmir struck out 12 Mets in his first ever outing against them and Nick Swisher hit a grand slam, as the Indians beat up on the Mets 8-1. Zack Wheeler says he just did a bad job last night. Oh well, it happens.

Jon Niese wiill take on Corey Kluber this evening as the Mets look to even up their series with the Indians. First pitch is at 6:05 PM.

Scott Rice's season is over. The 31-year old rookie lefthander will undergo surgery on a sports hernia. To take his place on the roster, the Mets called up 32-year old journeyman lefty Sean Henn.

Ruben Tejada will be Super Two eligible this offseason but with the Mets keeping him in the minors for so long, he may not make it to 3 years of service, meaning that the Mets will regain a year of control over Tejada.

Jeurys Familia is temporarily in Port St. Lucie after pitching in the season finales of the St. Lucie Mets and the Cyclones. Familia will likely continue his rehab in Las Vegas or Savannah.

The Binghamton Mets' season is over, as they were swept by the Trenton Thunder. The Sand Gnats are moving on, though, after sweeping the Augusta Greenjackets. Steven Matz tossed 7 scoreless innings and struck out eight, allowing just a single hit. Oh yes.

Former Mets prospect Yusmeiro Petitretired the first 26 batters last night before Eric Chavez's single fell a foot in front of Hunter Pence. Petit setlled for a one-hitter, winning 3-0 over the Diamondbacks.

Jacoby Ellsbury is headed back to Boston to get his injured foot checked out and apparently has his foot in a boot. They're just preparing him for Ray Ramirez.

Dennis Eckersley says that being a closer is not as tough as you'd think. BUT THE CLOSER'S MENTALITY! THE CLOSER GENE!

Grant Brisbee looks at the last pitcher to steal a base for each team.

Former MLB player Wladimir Balentien is threatening the Japanese home run record this season and the Japanese fans are okay with that.
