Flores had one of his less effective starts this year. After yielding more than 4 R in just three of his 22 starts, tonight he yielded 5 ER with 1 ER in the 3rd inning, 3 ER in the 4th inning and 1 ER in the 7th inning. Johnson finished the game with 1.2 perfect IP. Matz, whom the Mets drafted in the second round four years ago but had just six pro appearances (all starts) entering this year, faced just one batter over the minimum in 7.0 scoreless IP. Galindo's single with two hits in the 3rd inning was the lone baserunner Matz allowed.
