Meet the Mets

The Mets salvaged the finale of their three-game series in Atlanta behind a strong effort from starter Dillon Gee. Gee earned his eleventh win of the season, and Lucas Duda and Andrew Brown both went deep, much to the pleasureof Greg Prince. The Mets have today off before wrapping up their interleague slate this weekend in Cleveland. Zack Wheeler will toe the rubber Friday against a very familiar face.

As is tradition, Mark Simon checked in with his 'Met'rics from the Mets tilt at Turner Field. Also as is tradition, I am going to link to an interview with Darin Gorski. GORSKI!

This coming offseason should be an interesting one for Sandy Alderson and company, especially if, as expected, Matt Harvey goes under the knife for Tommy John surgery. Of course as has been the case with all Mets offseasons of recent vintage, it all comes down to money.

Yesterday at AA

James Kannengeiser brought us Part Two of This Week in SNY. Don't ever leave us again, TWISNY.

And in case you missed it, Ike Daviswill miss the rest of 2013 due to a strained oblique muscle.

Around the NL East

Talking Chop is not a huge fan of Kameron Loe. Shocking, I know. They also take a look at whether or not the team will be able to afford a new contract for Brian McCaan. Tough to give up on an all-star level catcher, even if it gets Evan Gattis out of left field.

The Good Phight reminisces about bad Phillies team of old and also has their own financial concerns.

The playoff-bound Nats took two of three from the Phillies, dontchaknow? And the Marlinscontinue to do their darndest to catch the Astros in the Carlos Rodon sweepstakes.

Around MLB

Here is all of yesterday's action in one handy dandy scoreboard. Of particular note: The Cardinalsoutlasted the Reds in 15 innings to get back within a game of the Pirates in the NL Central. 15 innings? Psshaw, that's a brisk affair for the 2013 Mets.

Feel free to come up with your best Pedro Cerrano jokes in the comments.

Jose Bautista's 2013 season is over. It lasted longer than the Blue Jays season at least.

Eno Sarris talked to Gerrit Cole about his fastball.

And Colin Wyers wonders how much context should matter when calculating wins above replacement.
