Sandy Alderson gave New York Mets fans a glimpse into the franchise's future plans Sunday, as the general manager answered questions from season ticket holders on Sunday. During the one-on-one time, Alderson assured everyone that third baseman David Wright and pitcher R.A. Dickey will be with the club long term.

"I fully expect that David Wright and R.A. Dickey will be here not only next year, but long term," said Alderson, who's quotes were documented by ESPN's Matt Ehalt. "As you all know, we have options on both those players and it's not our intention to simply rely on those options and go into next season and deal with their free agency after 2013. We're going to deal with it up front while we still have a little bit of room to maneuver. But we're committed to trying to bring those two back. I hope they'll both be back and I'm excited about the possibilities they will be."

If the Mets do lockup Wright and Dickey, its expected both will probably finish their careers in New York. During his nine-year tenure with the Mets, Wright, 29, has collected five season of 25 home runs or more, two Gold Gloves and six All-Star Game appearances.

Meanwhile, Dickey, 37, is on the downside of his career despite putting together his best season ever -- 16-4 with a 2.76 ERA.
