Final Score: Braves 4, Mets 1 -- More extra innings, more problems

Heading into extra innings with the game tied 1-1, Chris Johnson hit a three-run home run off of Greg Burke in the top of the 10th inning and the Mets fell to the Braves this afternoon, 4-1. The big fly was preceded by a controversial play that resulted in the ejections of Daniel Murphy and manager Terry Collins.

With Scott Rice on the mound with two outs, Freddie Freeman hit a hard ground ball through the box. Rice got a piece of the ball and chased it behind the mound, where he made a barehanded pickup and throw to first. Umpire Jerry Layne called Freeman safe in a very close play at the bag, but replays showed Freeman to be out by the smallest of margins. Terry Collins came out and argued the call to no avail, but the ejections didn't happen until after the Johnson home run.

During Johnson's home run trot, Murphy appeared to say something to Lane, and that got him thrown out of the game. Collins came back out to argue once again and was tossed upon throwing his hat at the umpire's feet.

The Mets drew first blood in this game when Josh Satin hit a solo home run down the left field line off of Braves starter Alex Wood in the fourth inning. It was Satin's second home run of the season, but it did not hold up.

The Braves evened things up in the sixth. After Jon Niese got the first two outs in the frame, he struck Jason Heyward in the jaw with a fastball. We'll know more about Heyward after he is examined at a hospital later today; all we know now is that he was able to walk off the field and he appeared to be bleeding from the mouth.

After Jordan Schafer took Heyward's base for him, Andrelton Simmons and Freeman hit back-to-back singles to tie the game at 1-1. The score would stay that way until Johnson's 10th-inning blast.
