Jenrry Mejia goes to the mound this evening against the Padres where he's set to face off against erratic righty Edinson Volquez. Carson Cistulli wrote about Mejia in advance of his start tonight at Fangraphs. Pretty excellent comparison in there.

Noah Syndergaard last night against the New Britain Rock Cats...WOW. He tossed five shutout innings (the Mets are limiting him to 5 per start down the stretch), allowing just 3 hits, and striking out a career high 10. Meanwhile, coming off 7 shutout innings of his own on Thursday night, Rafael Monterolanded in the #1 spot on Baseball America's prospect hot sheet (d'Arnaud was listed "in the team photo".
