Final Score: Dodgers 4, Mets 2 — Matt Harvey not so artful against Dodgers

Spirits were high in the Mets dugout and in Mets fans' living rooms when Juan Lagares hit a solo home run on the fourth pitch of the game tonight. They were high to begin with, since Matt Harvey was on the mound. However, the Mets' offense didn't do much after Lagares' dinger, and Harvey struggled, allowing four runs in six innings pitched. The promise of Harvey Day quickly faded. There's just no stopping the Dodgers.

Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu held the Mets in check in seven innings of work. The Mets' second run came in the ninth inning, when John Buck's RBI single off Kenley Jansen cut the Dodgers' lead to 4-2. Pinch hitter Ike Davis then stepped up to the plate, representing the tying run. Ike grounded out on the first pitch though, sending Dodgers fans home happy.

Harvey looked strong early but faltered in the middle innings. He gave up two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings, and Dodgers hitters were not fooled by his offerings. Harvey's three strikeouts were the fewest he's managed in a game this season. Get'em next time, Harvey. Get'em tomorrow, Mets.
