Jon Niese makes his long awaited return this afternoon, as he'll face off against Zeke Spruill.
Niese says his arm is good and he'll be limited to 90-95 pitches in his return. The Mets are likely to send down a bench player to make room for him, which (speculating) probably means either Andrew Brown or Mike Baxter.
IT HAS HAPPENED! After going 2-2 with 2 walks yesterday, Ike Davis is hitting over .200 for the season! Celebrate good times come on! His line sits at .203/.317/.316, still woeful for a first baseman, but for what it's worth, he has a higher on base percentage than Daniel Murphy.
Terry Collins mentioned recently that Zack Wheeler might move to the bullpen down the stretch to keep him active. Well, scratch that idea. Let's just assume somebody in the front office smacked TC in the face and said "never say that again".
Anthony Recker has the farthest bat toss in the majors. Well, when you get so few hits, I guess you've got to celebrate as much as you can.
