The Mets lost to the Diamondbacks on Friday evening despite a relatively late comeback to tie the game. Jeremy Hefner had another bad start, though his final pitching line wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.
The Mets score first with a run in the fourth inning, but Hefner—who was giving up hard contact all night—allowed two runs in the fifth to give Arizona the lead. The Mets score one in the top of the sixth, too, but Hefner was charged with another pair of runs in the bottom half of that inning.
The Mets rallied for two runs in the eighth inning to tie the game against Heath Bell, but the lead didn't last long. With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Scott Atchison served up a walk-off home run to Paul Goldschmidt.
