Last night was my current low point as a fan of the Colorado Rockies this year. With the Mets announcers pointing out every time a Rockie was lollygagging and EY Jr. and the rest of the Mets seeming to work hard at everything they did, it made me think this team was giving up.
Whether it was Dexter Fowler getting picked off first in the first, or Troy Tulowitzki not moving over to cut off a throw on a double to left in the first (luckily the ball hit the Met runner on third and stopped), or Fowler, again, gliding back to the warning track so that he was still in his back pedal as he caught the ball which allowed EY to tag and move up to second base; I didn't fell like the Rockies were in the game last night.
Hopefully it was just a one time thing and the team is able to bounce back tonight. Hopefully Walt Weiss remembers who his one inning pitchers are and who his multi-inning pitchers are. Hopefully we beat the stinking Mets and not fall behind the Giants for last place in the division. The thing that gives me the most hope is that it's Chacin pitching tonight. Since the 27th of July the Rockies have not won a game started by any other pitcher than Chacin while they are 2-0 in his starts during that time. That is 2-0 vs. 0-8 and so there is hope.
The only problem for the Rockies is they are facing Matt Harvey who is 8-3 with a 2.21 ERA. The Rockies were lucky enough to not have to face him in Colorado this year but they are not so lucky on this trip. The one saving grace for the Rockies is that at least he is not a lefty.
Other important points for this game is that Carlos Gonzalez has been added to the DL, with Charlie Blackmon taking his place in tonight's lineup, and Todd Helton has moved up to fifth in the lineup with Wilin Rosario moving down one. Jeff Francis is back with the team taking Gonzalez' roster spot. Without further ado, here are your lineups for tonight:
