After taking a David Price fastball off the hand during Friday's spring training game, Murphy is set to return to the lineup for tomorrow's game against the Marlins.
Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy has avoided serious injury, as it's being reported that he'll be back in the Mets lineup for tomorrow afternoon's matchup against the Miami Marlins at Tradition Field. Murphy was hit on the right hand by a David Price fastball during Friday's game against the Tigers and was removed by the team immediately, walking off the field in a great deal of pain.
Luckily for the Mets, precautionary X-rays taken on Saturday came back negative. Murphy felt well enough to take batting practice prior to this afternoon's matchup with the Boston Red Sox, after which he gave the thumbs up that he's ready to get back in the lineup immediately. Since the injury occurred during his first plate appearance of the spring, he'll be taking his first official exhibition at bat tomorrow against the Marlins. He'll face ex-Yankees pitcher David Phelps, who will get the start for Miami after scheduled starter Mat Latos was scratched.
