New York Mets left-hander Johan Santana is expected to return from the disabled list on Saturday to start against the Braves, reports Fred Kerber of the NY Post.

Johan Santana, who pitched three scoreless innings in Class A on Sunday and felt fine doing so, is scheduled to throw a bullpen session today and then is expected to pitch Saturday against the Braves.

Santana, 33, has been on the disabled list since June 21 with a sprained right ankle. The former Cy Young winner is putting together a solid year in his first season back from a series of shoulder injuries that sidelined him for all of 2011. The veteran lefty has racked up a 3.98 ERA and 8.5 K/9 in nineteen starts, and threw the first no-hitter in franchise history in June.

A corresponding roster move to make room for Santana will be made as Saturday approaches.

If he's healthy, Should the Mets pick up Santana's option for 2014?
