Noah Syndergaard tops the organization's rankings at #11 overall.
The Mets’ farm system continues to receive attention this offseason, with the latest praise coming from Baseball America’s Top 100 Prospects list. Seven Mets minor leaguers appear on the list, tying them with the Boston Red Sox for most in this year’s rankings. The list is headlined by Chicago Cubs’ third baseman Kris Bryant; the Mets' highest-ranked player is right-handed pitcher Noah Syndergaard at #11.
Syndergaard has been at the forefront of the minor league limelight since being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 38th overall pick in 2010. The 22-year-old was acquired by the Mets in a trade involving former NL Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey. This past season in Triple-A Las Vegas, Syndergaard posted a 9-7 record with a 4.60 ERA in 26 starts.
Fellow pitcher Steven Matz comes in at #33, with outfielder Brandon Nimmo and second baseman Dilson Herrera back-to-back at #45 and #46. Both Matz and Herrera join Syndergaard on the Mets’ current 40-man roster; Herrera also appeared in 18 games for the Mets in 2014 to close out the season.
Catcher Kevin Plawecki (63), outfielder Michael Conforto (80), and shortstop Amed Rosario (98) round out the potentially star-studded cast for New York.
