Mets farm system ranked fifth in baseball by Baseball Prospectus

BP cites the Mets' organization as one of the most balanced in the game.

Baseball Prospectus has released its rankings of Major League Baseball's farm systems and says the Mets have the fifth-best in the game. On their list, only the Cubs, Twins, Dodgers, and Rangers are rated more favorably. In their summary of the Mets' system, BP writes that the Mets have several tiers of good prospects and "have enough safety nets to continue to refill their major-league roster for the next few years."

The praise for the system as a whole does not come as a major surprise, as BP recently included six Mets on its top 101 list for 2015: Noah Syndergaard, Steven Matz, Brandon Nimmo, Amed Rosario, Kevin Plawecki, and Dilson Herrera.

Earlier in the offseason, the Mets' system came in fourth in Keith Law's rankings. While farm system rankings don't necessarily indicate imminent major league success, it's good to see that the Mets have at least built a well-regarded system over the past few years.

In case you've missed it, we have been counting down our top Mets prospects list here at Amazin' Avenue over the past week.
