The team announced several jersey number changes today.
Now that he's a full-time member of the club, Travis d'Arnaud is changing his jersey number to one that was once held sacred by Mets fans (and hopefully will again soon). He's switching from No. 15 to No. 7, the Mets announced today. Bench coach Bob Geren wore No. 7 last year, so he'll wear No. 15 in 2015.
d'Arnaud's new number used to belong to Jose Reyes, the franchise's career leader in triples and stolen bases, as well as Ed Kranepool, who has played in more games than any other Met.
There are also a handful of prospects who will be sporting new digits this year. Most notably, Noah Syndergaard will switch from No. 55 to No. 34 and Kevin Plawecki will go from No. 72 to No. 22. Potential bullpen arms Cory Mazzoni and Jack Leathersich will wear No. 47 and No. 51, respectively.
You can get the full list of number adjustments from the announcement link above. Here's hoping you held off on buying that d'Arnaud shirt until now.
