Gee will be paid $5.3 million in 2015.
The Mets and Dillon Gee settled on a one-year deal worth $5.3 million to avoid the arbitration process, according to ESPN New York. Gee joins Bobby Parnell and Ruben Tejada as arbitration-eligible Mets who settled before the deadline. Jenrry Mejia, Lucas Duda, and Daniel Murphy have not yet settled with the team. Gee's new salary is a $1.7 million raise over his 2014 salary of $3.6 million, and it is more than both MLB Trade Rumors and Pace Law School projected him to make this year.
After a breakout second half of 2013, Gee was hampered by both injury and ineffectiveness in 2014. His strikeout rate fell, his walk rate increased, and he only managed to pitch 137.1 innings with a 4.00 ERA and 4.52 FIP. Still, Gee has been involved in trade rumors over the past several weeks, and these will likely persist. The Mets still have a crowded starting rotation, and now that Gee's salary is definite, it could help clarify things for potential trade partners.
