Despite rumors that the Mets could be interested Jung-Ho Kang, the team did not bid on the Korean shortstop.

Major League Baseball teams had until 5:00 p.m. today to submit bids on Korean shortstop Jung-Ho Kang, but the Mets have decided not to bid, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

There was a lot of uncertainty this week on whether or not the Mets were going to make a bid on Korean shortstop, who hit .356 with 40 home runs and 117 RBI for the Nexen Heroes last season. Kang was officially posted on Monday, at which time the Mets were undecided on whether or not to put in a bid on him. Back in September, Steve Sypa profiled Kang and took a look at whether or not he would be a good fit for the Mets.

Although the Mets are in need of a shortstop, they have not expressed much interest in any of the options on the free agent market. Sandy Alderson has stated that he's comfortable with starting Wilmer Flores at short.
